The ABC of the latest IPL

Ad breaks: The only time you had, to catch your breath in this tournament of plenty! Bollywood: And the IPL go hand in hand. What's the fun of a game without a film star fan? The “B” town presence was, is and always will be an integral part of this tourney! CSK/Champions: Finalists three times and winners twice, in four editions of the IPL. They're organized; they're disciplined and can now write the book on “How to win the IPL” Dhoni/double whammy: The Captain with the Midas touch wins every tournament that he leads the way in. Be it a double whammy of two back to back IPLs or a World Cup and an IPL in quick succession! Elizabeth Hurley: Gave plenty to Mr. Warne to tweet about, gave more than that, to the journalists to write about and gave loads of photo opportunities when she was out and about! Fielding: Some terrific diving stops at the boundary. Some blinders that took your breath away. This shortest version of the game, always boasts of fielding that's nothing short of brilliance! Gayle: Swaggers in to the tournament rather late in the day, but sure knows how to catch up! A replacement player in the RCB team. Now they must find a way of keeping him! Hussey: Mr. Cricket could very well be called Mr. Consistent, Mr. Match Winner or Mr. Dependable in this IPL! IPL girl: The MI cheer girl, who was sent right out, the moment she started blogging. Truth hurts, even if it's in spurts! June: The month of the cricket hangover. After a high of four exhilarating, energizing months of cricket! Kurtas: The attire for the commentators for all the big games towards the end!

Last-ball thrillers: Have to admit, there weren’t enough of those this IPL.

Malinga/Murali Vijay: Both these M's were integral parts of their teams, but the second pips the first for coming through, in the crunch when it really counted!

No Ball= free hit! A batsman’s time to shine because the bowler stepped out of the line!

Orange Cap: Has the uncanny knack of always being on the head of a player who doesn't belong to the winning team of the tournament. This time no different.

Pune Warriors: One of the two new teams, this season. Were one of the strongest, most formidable teams on paper, but didn't quite live up to their billing. Surprising.

Queens that cheered: A tad bit weird!? Yes. That I'm afraid was the concept that didn't seem much of a working one, of all that was new this IPL. RCB: The red team that went green. It beat Mumbai black and blue. But fell shallow in front of the yellows.

Sixes: More than 600 sixes in this IPL itself ! We love this game for the bash of the ball, especially when it flies over the boundary wall!

Tuskers from Kochi: The second of the new teams, worked well as a team for some big games v big opposition. What didn't work well for them was the choice of colours for their uniform!

Ultra motion montages: Trickling sweat, turning wrists, flashy pompoms. All made for fascinating images, with that lovely background track! Kudos to the production team for these little bits of relief !

Valthaty: Can't forget that name and the innings that had him announce his arrival! Domestic players like him rise. and surprise.

World Cup heroes: Sachin, Gambhir, Kohli, Raina, Dhoni all took their form forward and upwards through this IPL. These big guns didn't seem tired. And they all definitely fired!

X-factor, or that zing thing. My personal pick of who has it: Dhoni, Sangakkara, Zaheer, Vettori, Warne, Hussey, Malinga, Symonds!

Yellow: The lucky color. The uniform that's seen the most IPL finals ever!

Zuzu: When it's not the color on the field that's grabbing your attention, it's these little white guys and their superhero that's making you smile.
